Saved by The Lioness

Just watched a National Geographic programme about a baby wildebeest  who was born into an ocean of grass in which  lions and hyenas were were lurking and stalking.

A lioness rushed up to the babybeest as it struggled to stand, and then spent hours sort of nursing it (a bit like a packed lunch, perhaps?).

The next morning she let it go !!!

The herd had, of course, moved on, but there millions of them, so babee knew which dorection to head.  Mothers only have enough milk to feed one baby so, ironically, they started headbutting, the chasing the little survivor all over the plain.

Eventually, 24 hours after being separated, mother and child were reunited.

Happy ever after? No Way!

The mother gets bogged down in the river and the calf wanders off, only to be chased by some members of a pride, but they are outrun by Survivor.

Mum has managed to make it to dry land, and baby as escaped the claws and jaws of lions far less considerate than the lioness who saved it from the hyenas ...

Isn't that just like life??

Well, there's more, because a Cheeter then approaches 70 mph... but the herd closes up around its young

go well
